Hi, I’m Jessica and welcome to Hex & Hue Style.
My interest in personal colour analysis started with my own frustrations with getting dressed. While I would sometimes find garments that seemed to light me up more and would intuitively be the first I reached for each fresh laundry day, I had no idea why certain colours worked better for me than others or had any clarity on what those colours actually were.
I’d buy garments with colours or patterns I personally liked or liked on the mannequin or model, or based on fashion colours of the moment or because it was simply on sale. The result was a wardrobe of hues that mostly drained me and a slew of disjointed outfits. Tops that would only work with specific bottoms and a bunch of items I technically liked on their own but were difficult to coordinate together.
I’d buy more items just to make one bargain wearable. And I’d often fall into the trap of thinking choosing the “safest” option (usually black) was the answer rather than what was actually flattering for me. Doesn’t black “go with everything”? Turns out it didn’t go with me and that was the problem! I needed my best neutrals and understanding of my personal value and colour contrast instead.
Colour analysis and personal style isn’t about chasing fashion trends or being “dressed up” all the time or having lots of clothes. It’s about finding what naturally works for you, your unique features, personality, lifestyle and goals, so you don’t have to work so hard! Love wearing hoodies and more casual wear most of the time? A personal colour analysis is for you too! A professional colour analysis gives you a personal blueprint, so your colours do the work for you, no matter your style preferences.
My biggest wish for you is ease. Ease in waking up in the morning and not staring at a wardrobe full of clothes and feeling like you have nothing to wear. Ease in a wardrobe of garments that actually work together that you can mix and match confidently. Ease in knowing what you’re looking for, so your shopping experiences become targeted and efficient (and the time and money-wasting items easy to eliminate off the bat). Ease in having your clothes align with how you want to show up in the world.
We all need to wear clothes, but thinking about what to wear shouldn’t be a constant chore that occupies our every morning and special event. Nor should we feel less than our best in what we do have. Free up your precious time, energy and money with knowledge that you can replicate, because it’s based on science, not vibes.
Environmental sustainability is a key reason I entered this space. I still love a bargain, but now shopping is intentional. Fashion fuels overconsumption, colour assessment lends itself to more conscious wardrobe curation centred on what we will actually wear because we look and feel great in it. Less clothes that do more.
